Dear All, We send our best wishes to fellow jazz enthusiasts under these difficult times.
Does anyone have any information about plans to re-open the Trumpet as a pub, and also as a jazz venue?
The situation is extremely challenging to all involved and with regard to jazz, it may be many months yet before venues can start putting on live music. The Trumpet is an unique venue, and all miss the good times there. The confined nature of the pub may well put it to the back of the queue when it comes to putting on live music. Even if allowed by law, visitors may not feel confident about returning.
It is important to keep the interest going in the Trumpet, from the musicians to the audience, to the landlord and so on.
As a thought, maybe some live jazz could start up at one of Holden's larger pubs first under the banner....'Travelling Trumpet....a series of performances leading to the re-opening of the Trumpet as a live music venue....' This may well attract new customers in the long run.
Another thought....and one again leading to the re-opening as a venue......how about showing recorded jazz on a large TV actually at the Trumpet? Or, one for the more technologically adept, how about streaming live performances to the pub? The live performances could contain several members from a group based at their own homes. We cannot bring the musicians to the Trumpet, but we can bring the music!
Take care,
Matthew.
